Retreat into the Forest: A Case for Forest Bathing

Imagine being surrounded by tall trees, their massive trunks reaching towards the sky, leaves swaying gently in the breeze above. As you take a deep breath, the air is filled with the invigorating mix of earthy soil, the tang of citrus, and the comforting scent of cedar. It's an experience that's hard to describe, an indescribable feeling of pure happiness.

But have you ever questioned why a walk in the woods feels so undeniably good? The answer lies in the interesting concepts of 'Soft Fascination' and 'Restoration.' In this blog, I explore the science and marvel of these phenomena, uncovering the secrets of why nature has an unmatched ability to refresh our minds, bodies, and boost our creativity.

hello, my name is ula

I am a photographer & short-form video creator based on Vancouver Island.

By craft I bring brands to life visually; and by obsession, I collect content creation skills like I am collecting brownie badges. I have worked with niche industries specializing in e-commerce and DTC markets, while working with clients in food and beverage.

I began my career as a graphic designer, with a focus on photography and brand visual identity design. Over the years, I have adapted to the shifting needs of businesses, which has led me to where I am today.

I am currently leading a tight team at Extra Medium, supporting businesses through brand building, content creation, strategy, and execution.

Prior to my current position, I worked as the Digital Director for a direct-to-consumer (DTC) brand.

Outside the studio

Although a lot of my client work revolves around products, I choose to explore outside the studio during my personal time. I have been fortunate enough to drive across Canada twice, live in several cities, and now explore Vancouver Island. I use this time to recharge and feel inspired, as sometimes the best way to find creativity is to step away from the project.

While travelling, my partner and I make a point to check out coffee shops, breweries, wineries, and small restaurants. This balances out our time spent in nature.

Inside the studio

A significant part of my work involves gathering information, identifying trends, and keeping up with everything necessary to support brand and creator creativity. This includes colours, fonts, photo styles, social media, and even ways to stay productive and inspired while maintaining your sanity. I share insights that are worth considering and exploring, and that ultimately inspire you to create work you love.
